The Error Log gives the administrator an overview of all the errors associated with different sources that have occurred in a range of time. On occasion, the Indexer will run into difficulties indexing documents, such as not being able to access documents in a timely fashion, or deadlocks. All of these events are logged, allowing users to quickly determine what could potentially be causing issues with the indexing system. If you are an Enterprise Search administrator then it is wise to occasionally check in this section to review any exception errors that may occur.
Step 1 – Select ‘Search > Advanced > Error Log’ from the Application Explorer - Administration > Utilities > Search > Advanced > Error Log
Step 2 - A wizard will appear and in this step you will enter the Start Date, End Date and select the Source type and source that you would like to report on then click submit button.
You will be displayed with a list of all the errors occurring within the display criteria.
PLEASE NOTE: Selecting the Clear Log button will clear existing log entries.
